Our Board

<h3>The Carey Board oversees the governance, management and strategic direction of the School, and is guided by our commitment to being a leading independent co-educational Christian learning community.</h3>

<p>Tim is an Old Carey Grammarian (1989), Carey parent and an active contributor to the Carey community. Tim was appointed to the role of Chair of the Board in 2022. Over the past 10 years, he has served on the Finance, Risk and Advancement Committees and as a member of the Carey Board. Tim is pleased to be able to give back to the Carey community by lending his professional skills to ensure the best experience for future students. Tim has 25 years’ experience as a financial services leader in Australia, UK and New Zealand, including six years as a consultant; as an educator and facilitator in strategy, leadership, communication and culture; as director of a financial services company; and as chair of audit and risk committee. He finds fulfillment through social justice and using his skills, experience and connections to help realise the potential in people and organisations.</p>

Tim Chilvers

<p>Jane is the General Manager of Partnerships at Iglu Pty Limited, a purpose-built student accommodation provider that supports the growth of education in Australia. She previously led the creation and delivery of Victoria’s International Education brand, Study Melbourne and has spent time in London working for Tourism Australia. With 20+ years experience in education and marketing, she has an inherent understanding of strategy and its impact on student experience. Jane is a current parent; a Carey alum (1994) who was House Captain of Newnham, Captain of Diving and Vice-Captain of the Girls First Hockey Team; and was Vice-President of the OCGA from 2008 to 2010. Jane also sits on the Property Council of Australia’s Education Committee.</p>

Jane Favaloro

<p>Fiona has broad experience in financial management, operations and governance as a Chartered Accountant, management consultant and through executive roles in the not-for-profit and social enterprises sectors. She is currently Chief Financial Officer at FVREE, a specialist family violence service. Fiona joined the Carey Board in 2021 as a parent of two Carey students and as a nine-year member of the Carey community. Fiona values Carey’s broad-based and forward-thinking approach to education and its inclusive culture. She believes it is critical to foster curiosity and adaptability in students, while developing lifelong learners who are well prepared for the world beyond school. Fiona is also a Director of the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer, an organisation supporting the elimination of cervical cancer and other large-scale population health programs, within Australia and globally.</p>

Fiona Kelly

<p>Angus is CEO and Managing Director of 7-Eleven Australia. Over the past two decades, Angus has held CEO and CFO positions in leading Australian and international organisations including Skilled Engineering Ltd, Asciano Ltd, Fosters’ Group Ltd, New Zealand Milk Ltd and Diageo plc. He brings extensive strategy, governance and leadership experience to Carey’s Board. Angus is passionate about the development of our youth and contributing to their preparation for life outside of school. He believes in co-education and is committed to supporting diversity in all aspects of life. Angus and his wife, Tracey Mansfield, have a son currently attending Carey and are proud to have had two other children enjoy the benefits of a Carey education.</p>

Angus McKay

<p>Titilayo is a financial professional with extensive experience in the financial services industry, audit and risk consulting and as a practice principal. She serves on the Board of the James Macready-Bryan Foundation and is currently on the finance committee. Titilayo finds fulfilment in collaboration, synergies and ensuring that people feel seen and heard. She is a past Carey parent and an active contributor to the Carey parent community. Having served as both the Middle School Parent Association President and Senior School Parent Association Vice-President, she has deep connections into the Carey parent community and understands that it is important to create a community where both students and parents feel valued and at home. </p>

Titilayo Adetunji

<p>Jo is an independent management consultant who has worked extensively with schools, specialising in leadership development and cultural improvement. She also teaches in the tertiary sector and is the Chair of The Baptist Union of Victoria. As an educator, she is passionate about the importance of lifelong learning. She believes a love of learning starts at school and is enthusiastic about Carey’s commitment to developing the whole child – both at school and beyond. Jo has many connections to Carey: her husband attended the School in the 1980s, her father-in-law attended in the 1950s and her own four children currently attend across both the Kew and Donvale campuses.</p>

Jo Bradshaw

<p>In his professional career, James consults to the property, construction and related government sectors. Most recently, he has overseen the development of Victoria’s major sporting, cultural and civic projects. He brings extensive strategy, governance and leadership experience to Carey’s Board. James also has tertiary qualifications in construction and property and has lectured at the University of Melbourne. James is a dedicated advocate for Carey’s positive and inclusive culture and values. He feels a strong connection to the School as he and his three children are all former Carey students. James was appointed to Carey’s Board in 2018.</p>

James Evans

<p>Andrew is a Principal Lawyer at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers and the National Head of its Wills and Estates Division. In addition to bringing legal skills to the Board, he is also a Baptist Union appointee who has deep knowledge and understanding of the Baptist ethos on which the values of the School are based. Andrew strongly believes in the power of community and feels that much can be achieved by a group of people who share a common vision and purpose. He has a long association with Carey: he, his father, his grandfather and his eldest son are all Old Carey Grammarians. He also has three children currently enrolled at the School.</p>

Andrew Simpson

<p>Emma is an executive coach, facilitator and leadership development consultant. With over 25 years of experience as a lawyer and 17 years as a Partner at the law firm Allens, Emma is an experienced corporate professional who is passionate about helping individuals and organisations to realise their potential. Emma is a strong believer in co-education and is committed to supporting diversity in all aspects of her work and life. She strongly endorses Carey’s values-driven, progressive approach to education and the School’s focus on a learning culture that supports the development of curious, community-minded students. Emma is also a non-executive director at Plenary Group and a volunteer mentor for the Minerva Network. She and her husband, Chris Schultz, have two daughters – one currently attending Carey and one who recently completed Year 12 at Carey.</p>

Emma Warren

<p>Mary believes that education is a critical pathway to future wellbeing and quality of life. She is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and has previously served the in the Victorian Parliament, including as Minister for Mental Health, Community Services and Women’s Affairs. As Minister, Mary started Parkville College, a school with campuses in Victoria’s Youth Justice Centres and was responsible for Victoria’s first Free TAFE, for young people in the Child Protection system. She has also served as Shadow Minister for Training, Skills and Higher Education and on the Board of Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. Mary is currently Chair of Global Citizen (Oceana), an organisation founded by OCG Hugh Evans (2001) that is dedicated to ending extreme poverty. Mary was a Carey parent (2009–23) and was appointed to the Board in 2021.</p>

<p>The Board operates under a key governing document called the Constitution.</p>
<p>The Constitution describes a range of governance powers and processes including: the objects of the company, membership, structure and powers of the Board of Directors, processes for meetings and reporting obligations.<br /></p>
