We would like to take this opportunity to thank Natalie Bode for her amazing work as President over the last two years, and Jane Batrouney for her work as Vice-President and in other various roles with the JSPA as she moves on to Middle School.
Plus, a special thanks also goes to outgoing members Nisvan Erkal, Suji Kim, Kimberly Hung, Stella Bao, Katrina Gynell, Madaleine Yang and Ash Navaratna for all their contributions with the JSPA. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead as we warmly welcome all the new faces into the committee as well as our returning volunteers.
We would also like to acknowledge the extraordinary effort of the 2024 Class Representatives. You are a vital connection between the School and our families and play a key role in helping to establish a strong community. Thank you for all that you do.
If organising events is something you enjoy doing, we are looking for volunteers to assist as Class Reps for 2025 and on the committee in various roles such as co-ordinating Mothers and Fathers Day Breakfasts held in Term 2 and 3, and helping to run the Literacy Festival cupcake event held in mid-May. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help as a Class Rep or with any of these events, please express your interest to our President, Sarah Broadbent.
The association lives to foster a strong and vibrant school community while providing valuable support to Junior School. Thanks to the incredible generosity and collaboration of our community, we are thrilled to share the contributions and events that have made a meaningful impact in 2024. The JSPA made numerous donations towards the following:
Beyond supporting the school, the JSPA was proud to extend care beyond our campus with $1217.50 in charity donations to the Nappy Collective and 1000 Generations, reflecting our community’s commitment to making a difference.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, the much-anticipated Cool Kids First Aid Course returned to Carey in 2024, engaging and inspiring 40 upper primary students in an interactive after-school session. This course introduced students to essential first aid skills, including recognising emergencies, calling 000, and learning basic CPR principles such as DRSABCD. It was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm for mastering these important life skills.
The JSPA, to be known as the JSPAK in 2025, is deeply grateful to our parents, teachers and students for their continued support and contributions, which enable us to make these initiatives possible. Together, we’re shaping a vibrant, caring and connected community for our children to thrive in.
