Welcome back to another year at the Junior School! We’ve had a very positive and smooth start to the year, and the excitement and energy from both our dedicated staff and eager students has really set the tone for what’s to come.

As we kick off this new year we’re stepping into an exciting chapter for the Junior School. This year is all about aligning our two campuses, each with its own unique strengths and traditions. Our goal is to bring together the best of both worlds while keeping what makes each campus special.

Leading through change can be tricky, but we’re up for the challenge. It takes vision, resilience and a strong commitment to our core values – care, respect and growth – from everyone involved. Our teachers and staff are invested, working together to guide us through this transition with a focus on collaboration and fresh ideas. We know change can be tough, but it also brings new opportunities for growth and improvement.

This is more than just aligning two campuses – it’s about building a community that benefits from the different experiences and perspectives each campus brings. By sharing resources and working together, we can offer even better opportunities for learning, strengthen relationships and create a more unified school culture. With the strengths of both the Donvale and Kew campuses, we’re shaping a more dynamic, enriching environment for everyone. Whether it’s new teaching methods, unique extracurriculars or stronger connections within the community, we’re making sure both campuses work together to benefit all our students.

One of the key parts of this transition is the role of our students. They’re not just along for the ride – they’re leaders shaping the future of our school. Leadership isn’t just about titles, it’s about actions and the ability to inspire and influence others. By involving students in decision-making and encouraging them to take on leadership roles, we’re helping them develop essential skills and a sense of ownership over their own learning.

I’m truly proud to be leading us into this new era, both as Deputy Head of the Junior School and as Head of Donvale Campus. Since joining Carey last year, I’ve been made to feel so welcome, and I’m really excited for the years ahead!
