Lunar New Year at Carey was celebrated on Tuesday 4 February, with a lively Lion Dance performance for students at both the Donvale and Kew campuses.

This traditional celebration marks the start of the Lunar New Year, which is observed by millions around the world, especially in China, Vietnam, Korea and other parts of Asia. Lunar New Year is not only a time for celebration but also an occasion for reflection, gratitude and renewal. It is a time for families to come together, honour their ancestors, and wish for health, happiness and prosperity in the year ahead.

The Lion Dance is one of the most iconic and cherished traditions of the Lunar New Year festivities, symbolising good luck and fortune, and it was a highlight for students to engage with the vibrant, animated Lion Dancers.

The event was made possible with the support of CLOSA (Carey Local and Overseas Student Association) families. We thank CLOSA for their continued support of this event, which brings together the whole school community for this memorable celebration.
