Starting the year in style

The start of Term 1 is a special time. It offers a chance to reconnect with friends and welcome new students to the school. For those new to Carey, it marks the beginning of what we hope will be a very happy journey.

As I mentioned in our first-day assembly, I hope that students and teachers new to Carey, as well as Year 10 students joining us from Middle School, quickly feel that joining the Senior School was a good decision.

I trust that new students and their parents already sense the supportive and enthusiastic community they have joined. The Year 12 Commencement Breakfast, hosted by the Senior School Parents Association, exemplifies our community’s strength. This new initiative allowed our Year 12s to start their final year by reconnecting with friends before formal school commitments began. It also demonstrated the strong support and co-operation between parents, students and the School.

Another recent example of our community’s strength is the Year 12 Formal held last Saturday night. It was a wonderful occasion where the year level, including some non-Carey partners, celebrated in style and harmony.

We are fortunate to be part of such an inclusive and supportive community. As our School Captains remarked at the Year 12 Assembly after their Commencement Breakfast, we all have a role to play in ensuring this continues.
