Over the years, the CCF has addressed a diverse range of issues through dynamic speaker events. Past topics have included discussions on pornography, the importance of sleep, cyberbullying and cybersecurity, gender diversity and inclusion, drug education and awareness, as well as anxiety and depression. These sessions have featured leaders in their respective fields, sharing insights backed by current research to empower our community with knowledge and strategies.
This year, following input from our parent body through responses from a survey in a 2023 school newsletter, we've prioritised the topics of body image and emotional regulation. In May, we were fortunate to hear from the Butterfly Foundation, who provided practical advice on supporting our children’s body confidence. Now, we are pleased to announce our upcoming event with Dr Jodi Richardson, focussing on understanding and managing anxiety.
Upcoming Event: Moving kids and teens from anxiety to resilience
On Wednesday 28 August 2024 from 7.00–8.30pm, we invite parents and carers to join us for a special ONLINE session with Dr Jodi Richardson, an expert in anxiety and wellbeing.
This event is strictly for parents and carers and will explore how anxiety can impact children’s learning, behaviour, mood, physical health and overall enjoyment of life. Dr Richardson will help us understand what anxiety is, how to recognise the signs and symptoms in our children, and the causes and effects of anxiety.
Most importantly, this session will provide practical strategies for managing anxiety, helping our children navigate their emotions, and knowing when to seek professional help. Whether your children experience normal anxiety or anxiety that interferes with their daily functioning, this presentation will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support them effectively.
We encourage all parents and carers to log in and attend this important event. Academically accomplished, professionally experienced and intrinsically compassionate, Dr Richardson will support Carey in continuing to build a supportive community where our children can thrive emotionally, socially and academically.
Please mark your calendars and join us for this important session.
