How are rehearsals going so far?
They’ve been fantastic, we’ve had 142 people show up. It’s amazing to see people from 1985, 1986 and 1987, all the way through to 2023. I can’t believe how good they still are.
What can we expect to see on the night?
On the night we’re going to see 21 songs, which includes medleys, and that’s going to cover the 39 years of productions that we’ve done at Carey on the Senior School Musical. Partnered with all the singers who have come from Carey, we’ve got a professional band in the background playing through the night. We’ve also got a giant video screen and we’re going to see video from all of the past years, so a lot of people coming are going to see themselves or they’re going to see their family members. It’s going to be an incredible night where we all come together an experience the past being celebrated today.
We’re performing at the Forum in Melbourne, it’s one of Melbourne’s premier places for rock n roll, live music and, of course, theatrical entertainment. We’ve partnered with the Mariners, who of course own the Forum and other theatres, they’ve been fantastic supporters of this show, and of course theatre in Melbourne in general.
I really think the most important thing is seeing all the people from the past coming back together and seeing each other and working with each other through rehearsals. And we’ve had people who haven’t seen each other for 20 or 30 years who get to sing together and perform together, that’s probably the highlight for me.
So make sure you get your tickets to the show before it sells out, and, in particular, if you’re interested in having a really special night, there are booth packages available where you get a really nice bottle of sparkling wine and some artisanal cheeses, and it’s a really special place and a wonderful position to watch the whole show and really enjoy yourselves as a group. So if you think you’re going to arrive in a group of up to eight, have a look at those booths, and we’ll see you in the theatre!
Tickets available now for Thursday 18 May and Friday 19 May. Prices for individual seats range from $65 to $85, or booth packages are available for up to eight people which includes a bottle of 2019 Stonier Australian Vintage Sparkling and an artisanal cheese platter worth $95. These packages are $880 and are strictly for people over the age of 18 only.
