The recent Open Morning showcased our students as excellent tour guides, where they demonstrated their leadership skills with pride. The momentum from the first of the Leadership Days, participation in House Sessions and across APS Sport, Music ensemble groups and as part of the SRC is not just a beginning but a commitment by our students to continue flourishing until the term's end.
To sustain this positive trajectory, we must emphasise the factors contributing to wellbeing. Adequate sleep, balanced nutrition and daily exercise are essential components. Our students are also reminded daily of Carey’s values – care, respect, and growth – integral to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.
Communication is key. Open channels ensure transparency, enabling necessary adjustments for continuous improvement. The success of the Year 5 parent session, facilitated by Education Toolbox, emphasised preventative strategies and emotional regulation. Techniques like tense and relax, shifting attention and controlled breathing, integrated into the Year 5 inquiry unit, provide tools for maintaining calmness.
An important reminder concerning digital and technology usage. Limiting screen time before and after school, especially two hours before bedtime, is crucial. Research highlights the impact on relaxation and focus when constantly engaged online. As a community, we urge parents to actively engage in guiding their children and offering a supportive ear.
Our Junior School is thriving on the principles of leadership, student wellbeing and community engagement. The commitment to ‘be the change’ extends beyond the Year 6 leadership program, enveloping every facet of our students' lives. Let us continue fostering an environment where care, respect and growth are not just values but a way of life.
Stay connected, stay informed and let's continue nurturing the leaders of tomorrow within the embrace of our caring community.
