After a year of predominantly online recitals and concerts, the Performing Arts department is very excited to be starting face-to-face rehearsals again this week. The guidelines in place to start the year support a full return to ensemble rehearsals and, while the outcomes achieved last year in our reimagined music making were excellent, the chance to share music together in person is going to be well worth the wait. As I write this, I am sitting in the first rehearsal of the Senior School Musical and it is wonderful to be sharing the experience with our fabulous cast.
We are very pleased and proud to share with the community that five of our Year 12 students of 2020 have been accepted into music courses this year. Their places were earned through an audition process, which makes this achievement even greater. We wish them all the best as they continue their development at a tertiary level. In celebrating achievements, I would also like to share that both Angus Pace and Lizzie Tetaz were selected to audition for the Top Class Performances. These occur in late February and showcase the top VCE performance students in each instrument/vocal area.
With rehearsals and lessons starting this week, there is no doubt that the PAF will be a hive of activity. Ensemble Directors have been spending time choosing repertoire and planning rehearsals, and it won’t be too long before we are able to share the work of our Carey musicians with the wider community.
