Carey is a positive and engaged community made up of students, staff, families, alumni, donors and friends.
Lifelong friendships are formed at Carey, and not only among the students and staff. Parents who participate in activities and support groups also make lasting friendships and there are a broad range of sporting and interest groups that not only provide important support to activities, but also provide enjoyment and social occasions for parents and students alike.
There are many opportunities for parents to become involved at Carey. We have four school section-based Parent Associations that provide a support network and regular social events for parents and friends.
We have a number of community groups across sport, music and performing arts who help to organise events and raise funds for student programs and activities. We also have a dedicated group to support our international student community and their families.
Carey maintains a close relationship with its alumni community. We engage with our 18,000 members through social events and regular reunions. Alumni also have the opportunity to connect through other initiatives such as business and career sessions, sports and performing arts clubs, giving back through social impact, mentoring and speaking opportunities.
The Carey Medal is presented to a member of the Carey community (past and present students, staff and parents) in recognition of exceptional and outstanding service to the wider community either within the state, nationwide or internationally.
Carey was founded on the generosity of donors, and nearly one hundred years on, our students continue to benefit from a supportive community. Philanthropy plays a vital role in ensuring a Carey education is the best it can be for every student.
Housing over 100 years of history, Carey's Archives are an essential resource. As well as the storage and preservation of Carey artefacts, our Archivist manages the Mellor Museum on the Kew campus to display interesting parts of Carey's history, works on fun projects to bring our history to life, such as the Heritage Trail, and keeps a digital collection of items of historical significance.
If you would like to donate any Carey items to the Archives, please contact our Archivist.
Carey’s Family Business Directory is provided as a free service to current Carey parents to encourage the support and promotion of businesses within our community.
This page provides resources for those affected and will be updated with the latest communications to our community.
